Mission of Charity

Emulating the Buddha's spirit of "great mercy even to strangers and great compassion for all," Tzu Chi Mid-Atlantic Region has embarked on a large number of charity projects. Besides awakening the Great Love of all people, Tzu Chi members also inspire their own bodhi-minds and accomplish their spiritual cultivation through the act of giving. Service Programs:

• Convalescent home visits
• Individual case relief
• Prison outreach
• Food distribution for the homeless 

Mission of Medicine

The Medical Team of the Northern California Chapter is composed of the Free Clinic Team and the Bone Marrow Donation Team. Apart from organizing four free clinics each year at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, the Free Clinic Team also organizes periodic seminars and events on health-related issues. The Bone Marrow Donation Team schedules regular bone marrow donor registration drives. Service Programs:

Mission of Education
Education is a powerful tool for purifying society and improving social trends. It is hoped that through Tzu Chi our children can augment their regular schooling and receive additional fine education, such as in Chinese history and culture, moral principles, life education, and arts and humanities. Tzu Chi looks forward to developing a young generation with proper character that is able to benefit society and all mankind. Service Programs:

Mission of Culture
Promoting culture is aimed at purifying our hearts so that we can appreciate the significance of life and cherish our good fortune. People can then live happily and peacefully. That is why education is filled with great enjoyment. This mission seeks to inspire wisdom and to elevate the soul. Service Programs:
